In the beginning of all relationships we are in tune with everything our partner is doing. We remember to say thank you, we remember to say & do all the little things. But as time goes on we get lax in those areas. In relationships the little things ARE the big things, & a little bit will go a long way.
We all learned from Oprah years ago how living in a state of Gratitude can literally change our life. Well that state can also change our relationship no matter how good it is, or how rocky it is. Gratitude is one of the most powerful forces in the
We all learned from Oprah years ago how living in a state of Gratitude can literally change our life. Well that state can also change our relationship no matter how good it is, or how rocky it is. Gratitude is one of the most powerful forces in the
universe, & we attract whatever it is we put out into it. Here are 3 tips to strengthen (or save) your relationship!
#1 Say THANK YOU - No mater how redundant it may seem start telling your partner THANK YOU for the little things they do. Whether it be for cooking a meal (yes even if it tasted like Grandma's meatloaf), opening your car do, giving you a hug, or talking Fido for a walk. Show your gratitude not just for the big things your partner does, but start saying thank you for the little things you take for granted. When you show appreciation, studies have shown that your partner is more likely to feel more appreciation toward their partner the next day. Other subtle ways to show your gratitude are by body language: Lean into your partner when they are speaking, make eye contact, give soft comforting touches. This shows that your focus is on them & you appreciate the time they are giving to you.
#2 WORKOUT TOGETHER. Exercise generates Endorphins in our bodies making us happy & enjoyable to be around! Studies have shown that couples who take walks & exercise together have stronger bonds. Not only does exercise make us happy, it also helps us live long& healthier. The healthier we are the more patient, understanding & kind we are to others; including our partner. Working out also boosts libido & increases desire in each other. So the next time you're about to have an argument, put on those tennis shoes & see if the argument is still worth having after a good sweat ;)
#3 LAUGH! Lighten up. Stop taking life too seriously, none of us make it out ALIVE anyway! Laugh with each other, watch comedies, go to a comedy show, reflect on hilarious moments in your relationship or just start laughing uncontrollably about nothing. After all laughing is contagious! Laughter is the best medicine physically, spiritually, mentally & emotionally. It reduces stress which lowers our natural tendency to lash out & take out our stress on our partner. Laughing lifts our spirits bringing couples closer together. Take the time to appreciate each other's sense of humor & giggle your tensions away together!
